What happens if you drop the self-criticism, without dropping the standard?

Self-compassion is defined as kindness toward oneself in failure, recognition of shared humanity, and mindful holding of painful feeling, without self-judgement, isolation, or over-identification. It correlates with lower anxiety and depression. The scale's six-factor structure has been disputed in later work, so treat the total score as more reliable than the subscales.
