Which of the three things you do all week is not being expressed?
What it argues
Arendt separates labour, cyclical and consumed, which keeps you alive; work, which makes durable objects that outlast the act; and action, speech and deed before others, where who you are appears. A life organised around one of the three is impoverished in the other two, and modern work tends to collapse all three into labour.
The probe
Sort last week's hours into labour, work, and action. Whichever is near zero is the part of you that is not being expressed.
The source
The Human Condition — Hannah Arendt, 1958. The link goes to the text or to a catalogue record for it, not to a summary. This one is a catalogue record: the entry gives you the question and the probe, not the argument in the author's words.
