Which parts of you do other people know better than you do?

Simine Vazire · Who Knows What About a Person? The SOKA Model · 2010

A · Replicated at scale

The self–other knowledge asymmetry model: you have privileged access to your internal states (anxiety, intention, self-esteem), but others are often more accurate about evaluable, externally visible traits — intelligence, attractiveness, extraversion, conscientiousness. Neither vantage point dominates; they see different things.

ProbePick one trait you are confident about. Ask two people who know you well to rate it 1–10. Note the gap without arguing with it.
