Is anger a circuit that fires, or a category you learned?
What it argues
Emotions are not fixed circuits that fire; they are categorised predictions built from interoceptive signals plus learned concepts. What is universal is affect, valence and arousal, not the named emotions. This makes your emotion vocabulary a variable in your self-knowledge, not a fact about it.
The probe
For one day, record only valence, pleasant or unpleasant, and arousal, high or low, at four points. Do not name any emotion.
